Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Kopaja drivers joining PT TransJakarta does not require high education, whereas Jakarta government does not put school diplomas as a registration requirements.

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said his party is searching for drivers to operate Kopaja buses integrated with TransJakarta. Driver prospects are not required to present school diplomas, just the ability of driving the bus comfortably.

"I have told Kosasih (Director of PT TransJakarta). I don't want any requirements of high school diplomas, not even elementary school diplomas. We only need patient drivers, technically profound in driving. No problems about the diplomas," Ahok said at the City Hall, Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Friday (6/26/2015).
According to Ahok, there is no guarantee that bus drivers possessing school diploma may drive well. Even when there are lots of TransJakarta drivers owning school diplomas, accidents often occurred.
Ahok will hold a qualification selection for Kopaja drivers integrated to TransJakarta. The selection covers administration, physical and driving tests.
"The main requirement of TransJakarta drivers is not diploma. Just test them to drive, can they? Diplomas do not matter. There are those not going to school, can drive well," he said. (EPS)
