The Staff of the Sub-Directorate of Public Participation at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Pangarso Suryo said they are to receive 13 basic materials on disaster mitigation. "Our friends will be divided in eight clusters, as they may choose the appropriate cluster focus," he mentioned on Wednesday (12/02/2015).
The eight include evacuation, health posts logistics, communication, psycho-social companionship, public kitchen and many others. "Each cluster will have its own standard operating procedure. The SOP must be studied and fulfilled," he added.
The Head of Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Central Java, Sarwa Pramana mentioned that BNPB needs to create a material easily accessed by them. "Whether it is by the material book in Braille, or CD recordings," he elaborated.
One of the volunteers having many experiences, Sabar Gorky admitted he is thankful for BNPB, as he has given the chance.
"It is an extraordinary chance. It is the first time that the disabled is involved in disaster mitigation," concluded the one legged man who had just climbed Cartenz peak in August 2015 earlier.
